(H)ORIGINAL GENERATION is a collection of portraits representing a group of poets who have orbited around the bar (H)original in Barcelona's Raval district. A space for poetry meetings and relationships that, over more than 15 years, has become one of the central and transformative hubs for Catalan poetry. A group of poets who revolutionised the poetry scene in the country.
This poets' den was born in 2001 from the efforts of the poet Meritxell Cucurella-Jorba and Gigi Marzullo, who made up the first management team. From 2002 to the present day, the programming has been headed up by Ferran Garcia, and Josep Pedrals until July, 2015, with the invaluable input of Núria Isanda. The business owner, Manel Pérez, has always been there behind the scenes.
A time, a space and a group of poets that remain fixed in their contemporaneity. A photography project that takes stock of and bears witness to a moment in time and a generation.
There were more than 70 portraits, over 70 meetings in which the energy of the time became a channel of inspiration for searching for the photograph, for sensing the spirit of each one and capturing it. Bars, private dens, streets, toilets... An adventure that is finally reflected in this exhibition.
